Sadly, we’re not talking about the even sadder Matthew McConaughey movie about still living with your parents in your ’30s. NASA tried, and failed, to launch the Glory satellite, officially making its name ironic.
The protective shell atop the Taurus XL rocket didn’t separate three minutes after launch and wound up sinking the satellite mission, literally, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Wamp waaah! No, this is not a repeat headline from 2009.
The $424 million dollar Glory was supposed to study earth’s climate. Guess we’ve bought ourselves sometime before we’re forced to go full on green hippie.
But let’s remember folks, in light of this mishap, that especially when it comes to space travel, no guts, no glory. Better luck next time, NASA!
